Step 1: Free talk
1.
How do you go to school every day?(S1…)
2.
If I want to go to the USA, how can I get there?(S2…)
Review the words about transport by showing some pictures.
(bus taxi train plane underground)
Step2 Presentation
1.
Teach some new words by showing the pictures.

Give the students two minutes to remember the new words
Step Three. Practice
1.
Play a guessing game.
2.
Then read the new words together.
3.
Do the exercises in Part A.
Get the students to spell the new words.
4.
Get the students to practice the following dialogues in pairs.
A: When did people begin to use buses in Beijing?
B: People began to use them in 1935.
Buses have been in use since 1935.
(Explain the using of the Present perfect tense)
Ask some pairs to present their dialogues.
5.
Show the time line, and get the students to finish Part B.
Then check the answers by making sentences with “People in Beijing began to use
… in
….”
Step Four. Presentation (comic strip)
1.
Get the students to look at the flash and answer the questions:
Where was Hobo’s food an hour ago?
Why did Eddie eat Hobo’s food?
Is Hobo happy?
What does Hobo think of Eddie?(Ss answer)

Play the flash again and get the students to repeat.
3.
Read together.
4.
Explain some difficult sentences.
5.
The students practice reading the dialogues in pairs.
6.
Get some pairs to act out the dialogues.(Act out in pairs)
